tricky ? , I am sure of it. In my day,(dark ages) we had to make the paper too and then do tri-colour woodcut to boot. I wasnt very good at it…prefer painting and drawing. Is it for sale or trade?
It’s not editioned, so what I have is a series of proofs. Let me root them out tomorrow and I’ll post them on here or Fickr, and you can see what you think.
I know what you mean about printing, but I love the unexpected/happy accident element. It gives me that preliminary ‘push’ into engaging with the image which I have always found so difficult in paint.
I’ve always gone about printmaking in a bit of an unconventional way so I’m not a good ‘technical’ printmaker/craftsperson at all. I do like handmade papers though, and have made some of my own. I ve also done a small series of etchings in which I have printed the plates ‘blind’ (no ink) which results in an effective combination of textural/low relief sculptural qualities.
Andrew Daly did the most wonderfully detailed pencil drawing of his then idol “Marc Bolan” of T Rex fame, he was 10 years old, as I was, when he drew it, I am 54 now and can still remember being in awe of the fact he could create something so magical !
top picture…etching ?
Yes indeed. If you go to Flickr ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/andydaly/5615138740/in/set-72157626451214056 ) You can see a photo of the plates I used for it.
It’s printed on a slightly speckly oatmeal paper. A tricky one to make and no mistake.

I’m not worthy! What a beautiful thing to write. Are you sure it was me? Lol
